The host of the Wretched podcast, Todd Friel, ends the podcast by saying “Go Serve Your King.” I love this quote and it’s something all Christians should be doing. Are you serving your king?
The Gospel of Matthew ends with the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). Jesus tells the apostles to go into the world and preach the Gospel. You may read this and think this was only a command for the apostles, but this command was given to all Christians. We are all to be preaching Christ in our communities. If we are truly Christians, then we will have the God given desire to share His Gospel. We don’t share because of a sense of obligation, but we share the Gospel because we love God and we love people and we have the truth that they need to hear.
I’m not going to be all spiritual about this evangelism thing and pretend I’m an expert. Evangelism is hard for me. I get nervous every time I share the Gospel. I question myself and my qualifications all the time. That is satan trying to get me doubt myself and stop me from preaching the Gospel. However, once I get started sharing the Gospel the nerves go away. Jesus is there to help me in proclaiming His word. It also helps me to know that I can’t save a single person. I can share the Gospel, but the Holy Spirit must be working in their lives and only God saves.
If you get out there and talk to people you will be met with various reactions. A few people are willing to talk to you, while most will just pass you by. Some will even make rude comments. I never push anyone to talk with me. If someone is willing to talk, great. If not, that’s fine too. Remember they are not rejecting you, they are rejecting Christ. As long as we remain faithful in sharing the Gospel, God will do His part.
Recently, I have started recording some of my Gospel conversations and I would like to share these encounters with you. I’m not doing this for any praise, but I’m doing it to encourage other Christians to be bold in sharing the Gospel.
In the first video, I talked with Ian about the Gospel. He wasn’t sure about the after life and seemed to be depending on his good works. Will you join me in praying for Ian? Pray that he will he search the scriptures for the truth. Stay tuned for more Gospel conversations.
